The Two Basic Principles of Self-control

Everyone goes through moments where they wonder whether they could have handled the situation much better. These are actually times to where we often lose self-control and seems that we have no idea on how it happened or to why we have done what we have done. Self-control actually is a crucial ingredient in order for us to achieving success to whatever society we have taken part in. This may also mean the difference to making good impressions or making one which is terrible. It also could change how people perceive you, which would depend with how you could possibly handle self-control.

Self-control is really about two principles where the first principle is on observation. One of the best ways to really understand anything in our life is through the process of observation. The moment that we start observing is the time to where we start to understand on how it really works. We usually like to observe other people, but we don’t pay enough attention to observe ourselves.

Every morning after waking up, one of the things that we do would be to look in the mirror. We then observe ourselves in order for us to be better prepared in interacting with society. This actually is the same principle that we need to observe our own character, beliefs and our actions to be sure that we are prepared in gaining self-control.

Another principle would listening. For a lot of times, we mostly want people to actually listen to us, but we tend to forget that we also should listen not just to other people, but likewise to ourselves. We actually feel and think of something at any point in time. By listening, we then could understand what really constitutes to something. If we listen on half of what we really think and say, we could understand whether we are making sense or not. Self-control is not only on how you handle the outside world, but it is also on how you handle the inside of it. Anything that really needs control should be understood. We actually cannot say that a person will need self-control with the individual understanding what will need self-control.

Each of us in fact has the ability to achieve great self-control which is able to help push us to greatness. Greatness is in fact not copyrighted to any person. It all comes down to us to see the greatness that’s present in us and that self-control also the initial procedure for any individual for us to achieve it. Our capability to regulate reactivity and impulsivity to the different life events will contribute to lending our strength to self-control.
